In the quiet neighborhood of Knoxville in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the evening of September 20, 2012, was shattered by a single act of violence that claimed the life of Randy D. Lewicki. A 49-year-old white male, Lewicki was sitting on the front steps of his mother's home on Jucunda Street when he was fatally shot in the side. He was rushed to UPMC Mercy Hospital, but tragically succumbed to his injuries later that night.
Witnesses at the scene reported hearing a single gunshot and then
seeing two men fleeing the area. The brazen nature of the attack, targeting a man at his family home, sent a chill through the community. The investigation that followed revealed a few more details, but a resolution to the case remained elusive. Police described one of the suspects as a young Black man with a thin build, who was seen wearing a white t-shirt at the time of the shooting. A rifle was later discovered by authorities on Rentz Way, not far from the scene of the crime.
