On July 2, 2020, eighteen-year-old Darrell Gott Jr., a resident of Willard, Missouri, was driving in Springfield when he became the victim of a violent incident that ultimately claimed his life. Gott was operating a vehicle that crashed in the vicinity of the shooting. A neighbor who witnessed the aftermath attempted to render aid to the teenager, who had suffered a gunshot wound. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
