Russell Wynn Harper, a 45-year-old trooper with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, tragically lost his life on February 8, 1987, in Springfield, Missouri. Harper was conducting a routine traffic stop east of U.S. Highway 65 and U.S. Highway 60 near Farm Route 189 in Greene County when he was fatally shot.
