On April 17, 2023, at approximately 6:51 p.m., Springfield Police responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Forest Avenue and Calhoun Street in Springfield, Missouri. Upon arrival, officers discovered 18-year-old Lavelle C. Rose III, from East St. Louis, Illinois, deceased in the passenger seat of a vehicle, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The female driver, who also suffered gunshot injuries, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
