On a tragic day in Springfield, Missouri, the lives of a mother and son were brutally cut short. Thirty-five-year-old Kevin Anderson, a male resident of the city, was killed in his home on February 13, 2015. The unfortunate event unfolded when an argument erupted between his mother, Andrea Anderson, and her boyfriend, Willie Clark.
The altercation escalated quickly and violently. Kevin's brother, Ronald Anderson, attempted to intervene in the dispute but was shot by Clark.
As Andrea Anderson tried to flee the chaotic scene, she too was shot and killed by Clark. In the midst of this horrific violence, Kevin, who was in another room, was fatally shot by Clark. Ronald, despite being shot two more times, managed to survive the ordeal and later became a key witness to the tragic events that claimed the lives of his mother and brother.
Following the double homicide, Willie Clark fled the scene. He initially went to the home of another girlfriend in Springfield, where he left the weapon used in the killings. He then continued his attempt to evade law enforcement by traveling to the residence of a third girlfriend in Arkansas. However, his run from justice was short-lived. The girlfriend in Springfield cooperated with the police, turning over the firearm, and Clark was apprehended on February 17, 2015.
Willie Clark was taken into custody and remained in the Greene County Jail. In August 2017, he faced a jury for his crimes. In an unusual move, Clark chose to represent himself at the trial after dismissing his public defender. The jury deliberated for just over an hour before finding him guilty on all counts, which included two counts of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree assault, and three counts of armed criminal action. For the murder convictions, he faced a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
