Death by Force

On July 5, 2024, at approximately 3:12 a.m., Springfield police officers responded to a report of a shooting at 1634 W. Chestnut Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Jack Osborn, 46, with a fatal gunshot wound inside the residence. A second victim, Melissa Smith, 44, was found outside the residence with gunshot wounds; she was transported to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
