Gerardo Aguilar-Hernandez, a 28-year-old man, was fatally shot in Springfield, Missouri, on Friday, December 13, 2019. The incident initially appeared to be a single-vehicle accident, but upon investigation, officers discovered Aguilar-Hernandez had sustained a gunshot wound while driving his pickup truck.
The following day, police arrested 17-year-old Pedro Bolanos in connection with the shooting. Initially, Bolanos was charged with first-degree assault.
However, after Aguilar-Hernandez succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, authorities announced their intention to present murder charges to the prosecutor.
According to police documents, the shooting was believed to be drug-related. Following his arrest, Bolanos was held in jail without bond.
