A man is found shot in his truck partially in a ditch in Springfield, MO In the early morning hours of June 10, 1993, Frank Stanton was driving his 1985 maroon Toyota pickup truck in Springfield, Missouri, on his way to work as a carrier for the Springfield News-Leader, a job he often did with his 14-year-old son. That particular morning, his son had stayed home. Tragically, Stanton never made it to work. At approximately 4:30 a.m., an off-duty police officer discovered his truck on the side of the road in the 1300 block of E. Republic Road.
Inside the vehicle, 48-year-old Frank Stanton was found deceased.
An autopsy later revealed that Stanton had died from a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators believe the shooting occurred sometime between 3:40 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Frank, a U.S. veteran who had served during the Vietnam War, was described by his family as a good guy whom everybody loved. He had traveled the world before choosing to settle in Springfield.
Despite the investigation that ensued, no arrests have ever been made in connection with the murder of Frank Stanton, and the case has remained a cold case for over three decades. The Springfield Police Department has continued to list it as an unsolved homicide. His daughter, Tricia Miller, who only discovered her biological family in recent years, continues to seek answers and justice for her father. The family believes that someone out there has information about what happened that fateful morning and hopes that they will come forward.
