In the summer of 2020, a young life was abruptly cut short on a street in a St. Louis suburb. Torrion Waller, a 17-year-old Black male, was killed on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, in what authorities have classified as a homicide. The incident unfolded in the 5500 block of Helen Avenue in Jennings, Missouri, right in front of his own home.
On that late Tuesday morning, just before noon, Waller was seen getting into a car.
Moments later, in a sudden and violent turn of events, he was pushed out of the vehicle and fell to the ground as the car sped away from the scene. When officers from the St. Louis County Police Department arrived, they found the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite their life-saving efforts, Torrion Waller was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Waller's death began immediately, but the circumstances surrounding the shooting remained unclear.
