On the afternoon of July 11, 2021, violence erupted in the Carr Square neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, claiming the life of a young teenager. Kyle Falker, a 15-year-old male, was spending time with friends inside the Preservation Square housing development near the 1400 block of North 14th Street. Shortly after 1:00 p.m., a vehicle approached the group near a tree where they were gathered.
Occupants of the car unleashed a barrage of gunfire, believed by investigators to be from a rifle, striking the teen multiple times. Police officers responding to the scene found him unconscious and not breathing. despite the efforts of witnesses and first responders, he was pronounced dead at the location.
The investigation into the shooting eventually led authorities to identify multiple suspects involved in the violent act. Detectives connected the killing to a broader pattern of violence in the area. Dahsaun Ewing, a resident of Glasgow Village, was identified as a key figure in the incident. Another individual, Stanico Jordan, who was only 16 years old at the time of the shooting, was also implicated in the murder. Both suspects were eventually taken into custody and faced serious charges in the St. Louis Circuit Court.
Legal proceedings brought resolutions to the case several years after the tragedy. Stanico Jordan was certified to stand trial as an adult despite his age at the time of the offense. In December 2023, after pleading guilty to his role in the killing, Jordan was sentenced to serve 22 years in prison. Dahsaun Ewing faced charges for Falker's death as well as for the murders of two other men from a separate incident in 2020. In March 2024, Ewing pleaded guilty to second-degree murder regarding Falker. A judge subsequently ordered him to serve a 10-year prison sentence for this crime, which was set to run consecutively to a 20-year sentence imposed for the other killings, ensuring he would face a lengthy term of incarceration for his spree of violence.
