On the evening of August 26, 2020, a burst of violence on the streets of south St. Louis claimed the life of 31-year-old Doral Peoples. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department received a call around 8:30 p.m. reporting a shooting in the 5200 block of South Kingshighway, near Christy Park. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a grim scene. Peoples had sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the location.
A second victim, a 59-year-old woman, was also found
at the scene with a gunshot wound to her arm. She was conscious and breathing when law enforcement arrived. The incident was one of several shootings that occurred in a violent overnight period in St. Louis.
In the immediate aftermath, homicide detectives began an investigation into the double shooting. Authorities appealed to the public for any information that might lead to an understanding of the events that transpired and the identification of those responsible. Law enforcement encouraged anyone with knowledge of the shooting to contact the homicide division or CrimeStoppers to provide anonymous tips.
Despite the ongoing investigation by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Division, there have been no subsequent public announcements regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the death of Doral Peoples.
