In the late hours of a warm late summer evening in Saint-Louis, Missouri, the life of 18-year-old Gerliah Monae Dennis was tragically cut short by a burst of gunfire. On the night of September 3, 2020, she was the victim of a triple shooting in the Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood.
Officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Hodiamont Avenue at approximately 10:20 p.m. following reports of the shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene inside a vehicle.
Gerliah and another 18-year-old, Terrell Scott Jr., were found with gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene, but Terrell Scott Jr. was pronounced dead at the location. Gerliah Monae Dennis was rushed to a nearby hospital in a desperate attempt to save her life. Tragically, her injuries proved to be too severe, and she succumbed to them at the hospital. A third victim, a 16-year-old male, was also struck by gunfire, sustaining a wound to his leg. He was transported to the hospital, and at the time, his vital signs were reported as stable.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's homicide unit has been handling the ongoing investigation into the deadly shooting. However, in the time that has passed since the incident, no information has been publicly released regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the murders of Gerliah Monae Dennis and Terrell Scott Jr. The case remains an open and active investigation, with authorities appealing to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough.
