On the evening of February 25, 2021, a violent incident occurred in the Baden neighborhood of North St. Louis, Missouri, resulting in the death of 32-year-old Antoine Jamil Johnson. Just before 6:00 p.m., police officers responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of North Broadway and Grape Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered that Johnson had sustained multiple gunshot wounds during a confrontation in the area.
Following the shooting, an attempt was made to transport Johnson
to a medical facility in a private vehicle rather than waiting for emergency services at the scene. However, the desperate drive to the hospital ended abruptly when the vehicle was involved in a traffic collision at the intersection of Kingshighway and Delmar Boulevard. Emergency medical personnel responded to the crash site and transported Johnson to a nearby hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
Law enforcement officials investigated the scene of the original shooting and took a 49-year-old male suspect into custody shortly after the incident. During the investigation, authorities recovered several firearms at the location.
