On January 4, 2017, the life of 22-year-old Daikel Fletcher came to a violent end in St. Louis, Missouri. Police officers responded to a call on the 3200 block of Dodier Street, located in the St. Louis Place neighborhood, where they discovered the young man behind a residence. He was found unconscious and suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the arrival of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene, marking the city's first homicide case of that year.
Investigators at the
scene determined that Fletcher had been the victim of a shooting, but they also uncovered evidence suggesting a robbery had taken place. Police announced that they were searching for the victim’s vehicle, which was missing from the area. The stolen car was described as a black 2011 Dodge Charger with temporary license plates reading 01RQN4. Authorities believed the vehicle had been taken from Fletcher around the time of the killing and asked the public to be on the lookout for it, noting that the temporary tags might have been removed by the perpetrator.
In the years following the incident, no arrests have been reported in connection with the murder.
