On the night of March 30, 2022, violence erupted in a quiet residential neighborhood in unincorporated St. Louis County, near Florissant, Missouri. At approximately 11:30 p.m., police officers from the North County Precinct responded to frantic calls reporting gunfire on the 4800 block of Cloverfield Trails Court. Upon their arrival at the scene, first responders discovered a 31-year-old male, Darius Lamont Monda, suffering from a severe gunshot wound outside his home.

personnel immediately transported Monda to a local hospital where he was admitted in critical condition. For over three weeks, medical staff worked to treat his injuries as he fought for his life. Despite these efforts, the trauma proved too great, and he succumbed to his wounds, being pronounced deceased at the hospital on April 21, 2022. His death marked a tragic end to the weeks of uncertainty following the late-night assault.
Detectives with the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons launched a homicide investigation, combing the area for evidence and soliciting leads from the community. Authorities publicly requested that anyone with information regarding the incident contact investigators or CrimeStoppers to remain anonymous. Despite these appeals, reports indicated that no suspects had been identified or taken into custody in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, and no arrests had been made in connection with Monda’s murder as the investigation continued.
