Fathi Twalib, a 34-year-old man from Kalaheo, Hawaii, went missing on July 23, 2019, while swimming at Polihale State Park on Kauai’s west side. Witnesses reported that Twalib ducked under the water about 10 feet from shore but failed to resurface. Emergency services, including the Kauai Fire Department, Coast Guard, and other agencies, launched an extensive two-day search. Despite these efforts, no sign of Twalib was found, and the search was eventually suspended.
