Kirk Passmore, age 32, was last seen on November 13, 2013, while surfing in Haleiwa, Hawaii, at a spot known as Leftovers, located off Kamehameha Highway. On that day, large waves were hitting the shore due to a high-surf warning, but Passmore, an experienced surfer, was not wearing a flotation device. He wiped out on a 20-foot wave and was last observed swimming downward, possibly disoriented from a burst eardrum. Despite immediate rescue efforts, neither Passmore nor his body were recovered.
