Eztli Atl Cortez-Trujillo, a 21-year-old from North Ogden, Utah, was last seen on April 23, 2020. Eztli, who identified as gender-fluid and used they/she pronouns, disappeared after being involved in a minor car accident on North Ogden Divide Road. A GrubHub driver stopped to offer help, and Eztli accepted the offer of a ride. However, the driver had to complete a delivery first. When the driver returned, Eztli was no longer at the scene, and their vehicle, a silver Volkswagen, was left abandoned.

Eztli’s family expressed concerns early on, noting it was out of character for them to leave their car behind, as it was very important to them. Eztli had been struggling with mental health issues around the time of the disappearance, but their family believes something more serious happened, especially as their phone later pinged in Taos, New Mexico, over 600 miles away from the accident site. However, no solid leads have emerged from this clue.

The investigation faced challenges, with Eztli’s family criticizing the initial lack of urgency from law enforcement. Delays in assigning detectives and obtaining phone records hindered progress, and Eztli remains missing despite ongoing efforts by family, friends, and the police.
