Tyrone Lydell Bryant, a 22-year-old man, disappeared on October 31, 2001, from Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was last seen at his residence on Lafayette Street. Described as 5'11" and weighing about 135 pounds, Tyrone had distinguishing features, including a pierced left ear, a horizontal scar on his elbow, and several tattoos, such as the word "Troop" on his bicep and a "Bryant Family Tree" on his back.
At the time of his disappearance, he may have been wearing a gold wedding band and white sneakers.
Tyrone had a troubled past, growing up in Detroit, Michigan, and getting involved in gangs and drugs as a teenager. He moved to Fort Wayne at 19 and had several arrests for drug and weapons-related charges. There was an active warrant for his arrest for probation violation when he went missing. His family, however, reported him missing only in May 2002, after months of no contact, stating it was unusual for him to cut off communication.
Authorities initially believed Tyrone may have fled to avoid his legal troubles. However, suspicions of foul play surfaced after his girlfriend, with whom he had been living, committed suicide in 2006. In her suicide notes, she claimed that during an argument, she called someone who came and killed Tyrone, after which they both disposed of his body. She indicated that his body would never be found but did not name the individual responsible for his death. The house they shared has since been demolished, further complicating the investigation.
