In the summer of 2001, in the small community of Mooringsport, Louisiana, 39-year-old April Gay Brown was a mother of two sons, navigating life separated from her husband. On the evening of July 6th, she was at her home when an unidentified man arrived. Family members later recounted that April left with this man at approximately 9:30 p.m. in what was described as a dark-colored, early 1990s model Chevrolet Cavalier. The man was described as a white male, around 35 years old and approximately 6'1" tall, with brown hair that covered his ears and long sideburns. April has not been seen or heard from since that night. April is described as a white female with brown hair and brown or hazel eyes. She has several distinguishing marks, including a scar on her abdomen, a mole on her neck, and a tattoo of a smiley face on her shoulder. At the time of her disappearance, she stood between 5'5" and 5'6" tall and weighed around 160 pounds. It has been noted that she may have used the last name Gullett at times. Her case is classified as an endangered missing person, and her disappearance left her two sons without their mother. The circumstances surrounding April's disappearance remain a mystery. In the years following her disappearance, investigators received several tips suggesting she may have been murdered, though none of these leads have been confirmed. In one instance in July 2005, authorities searched a well in McLeod, Texas, after a man claimed to have seen a skeleton there. However, the search yielded no results, and the man who provided the information was later arrested for providing false information to law enforcement. The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office continues to have her case open, but with no significant leads, April's whereabouts remain unknown. The case is a somber reminder of a mother who vanished, leaving her family with unanswered questions.
