In the summer of 2001, in the small community of Mooringsport, Louisiana, 39-year-old April Gay Brown was a mother of two sons, navigating life separated from her husband. On the evening of July 6th, she was at her home when an unidentified man arrived. Family members later recounted that April left with this man at approximately 9:30 p.m. in what was described as a dark-colored, early 1990s model Chevrolet Cavalier.
