Philip Letarte, a 64-year-old man from Woodland, Maine, was last seen on June 2, 1986. He had left the residence of Robert Ericson on Tibbetts Road, telling Ericson that he was heading to Gary's Exxon in New Sweden to purchase cigarettes, a 3.5-mile walk. After briefly returning to the residence, Letarte left again and was last seen the following day on Colby Siding Road, appearing "feeble and confused."
