On January 29, 2021, this unidentified Hispanic man was one of several individuals attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico Border in San Ysidro through a drainage culvert after a heavy rainfall. The culvert began to fill with water and United States Border Patrol responded to attempt a rescue but this man was found unresponsive and subsequently pronounced deceased.
