On May 1, 1976, the body of 15-year-old Sherry Lynn Smith was discovered off Eel Rock Road, just north of Miranda, California. She had attended a dance at the Garberville Fireman’s Hall the previous evening and was last seen around 2 a.m. as the event concluded. Witnesses reported seeing Sherry with 14-year-old Christina Anderson that night. Tragically, Sherry's partially clothed body was found two days later, showing signs of a violent assault.
