Justin Mann and the 2017 Lansingburgh Quadruple Homicide

Background

In late December 2017, four members of a family and household were killed inside a basement apartment in the Lansingburgh section of Troy, New York. The victims were discovered on December 26, 2017, by the property manager at 158 Second Avenue after relatives grew concerned. Police immediately treated the scene as a quadruple homicide.

The Crime

Evidence and later court testimony showed the killings occurred roughly five days before the discovery—around December 21, 2017—inside the victims’ basement apartment. The victims were found bound; prosecutors and reporting described fatal knife attacks. Investigators and prosecutors later said the crime stemmed from a home invasion that resulted in stolen items such as a television and video game controllers.
