In the early hours of a summer morning in St. Louis County, tragedy struck a neighborhood street. Duan Regans Jr., an 18-year-old Black male, was with a group of people in the 6200 block of Creston Avenue in Pine Lawn, the very block where he lived. At approximately 2:19 a.m. on June 20, 2022, the gathering was shattered by the sound of multiple gunshots. When the chaos subsided, two individuals were found to have been hit by the gunfire.
Both Regans Jr.
and a 19-year-old man were struck. Emergency services were called to the scene, and both victims were transported to a local hospital for their injuries. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Duan Regans Jr. succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased. The second victim was treated for his injuries and was later released from the hospital.
In the wake of the deadly shooting, the North County Police Cooperative requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis to lead the homicide investigation. Detectives canvassed the area, and a handgun was recovered at the scene. Investigators believe Regans Jr. and several others were in the street when the shots were fired, but further details about the circumstances leading to the incident have not been publicly released.
As of now, the suspect or suspects involved in the shooting remain unknown. The Major Case Squad has not announced any arrests or named any persons of interest in the ongoing investigation.
