In the quiet evening of June 7, 2024, the life of 32-year-old Jordan Armstrong was tragically cut short. Responding to a call about a shooting at his apartment in Velda City, a municipality in St. Louis County, Pagedale police discovered Armstrong deceased at the scene. He had been fatally shot. Friends and family remember Armstrong, a resident of Florissant and a father of five, as a kind and gentle soul with a compassionate nature and a love for basketball.
His family, left reeling from the sudden and violent loss, described him as a light in the lives of all who knew him, a man whose smile could brighten the darkest of days.
The investigation into Armstrong's death quickly led to the identification of a suspect, 41-year-old Lanora Carla Arnold. According to authorities, Arnold was inside Armstrong's apartment with other individuals when a witness arrived. It is alleged that she asked the witness to leave before she shot Armstrong. Following the shooting, Arnold reportedly fled the scene and broke into a nearby home, where she attempted to hide the murder weapon.
Lanora Arnold was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and second-degree burglary. She was held on a $500,000 bond. In October 2025, a St. Louis County jury convicted Arnold of second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, second-degree burglary, and tampering with evidence. The conviction brought a measure of solace to Armstrong's grieving family, who had been grappling with not only their profound loss but also the unexpected financial burden of his burial, for which they had sought community support through a GoFundMe campaign.
