In the early morning hours of a summer Sunday in Kansas City, Missouri, the sound of gunshots shattered the quiet of a residential neighborhood. On July 17, 2022, police were dispatched to the 4100 block of East 59th Street around 5:45 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene that marked another weekend of violence in the city. A young man was found lying in a yard, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
