On the morning of October 5, 2022, 24-year-old Jevon Durbin, a male resident of the St. Louis area, was fatally shot inside a residence in Pine Lawn, Missouri. The incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. in the 4100 block of Jennings Station Road. According to the North County Police Cooperative, officers responded to the scene and discovered Durbin deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators determined that the shooting stemmed from an argument between the victim and an acquaintance who had been allowed into the home shortly before the violence erupted.
Authorities quickly identified a suspect in the case: 20-year-old Colby Harris, also known by the nickname 'Santana.' Following the shooting, Harris fled the scene, prompting police to issue an at-large murder warrant for his arrest. Law enforcement officials warned the public that Harris was considered armed and dangerous, noting he was known to frequent the Fairground Park area and parts of Pine Lawn. A cash-only bond was set at $2 million while the manhunt was underway.
The search for the suspect concluded nearly a week later when Harris surrendered to detectives on October 11, 2022. Following his surrender, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged him with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with Durbin's death. Police indicated that the two men knew each other, which facilitated Harris's entry into the home prior to the fatal altercation.
