A quiet street in the Greater Ville neighborhood of St. Louis was shattered by gunfire late on a Friday night, leaving a community in mourning and a family forever changed. On November 25, 2022, 15-year-old Markwun Moore, a young male, lost his life in a violent shooting that also left another teenager seriously injured.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department received a call for a shooting at approximately 11:10 p.m. in the 4000 block of Labadie Avenue.
Upon their arrival, a grim scene awaited them. On the front porch of a residence, they discovered a 16-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds. Though he was conscious and breathing, his condition was critical, and he was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for emergency medical care.
Behind the same home, a more tragic discovery was made. There, officers found Markwun Moore, who was not conscious or breathing. He had succumbed to his injuries at the scene and was pronounced dead. The juxtaposition of the two teenage victims, one clinging to life and the other's life already extinguished, painted a harrowing picture of the violence that had unfolded.
