On the night of October 6, 2021, the Dutchtown neighborhood of South St. Louis, Missouri, became the scene of a violent tragedy that claimed the life of a local resident. Police officers were summoned to the area following reports of gunfire, arriving to find 28-year-old DeVante Lewis suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The African American male was quickly attended to by first responders who rushed him to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but despite the emergency medical
intervention, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
