Detective Dorian David Rorex, a 27-year-old officer from Gary, Indiana, tragically lost his life on January 15, 1998. He was responding to complaints of drug activity along with two other plainclothes detectives when they encountered a suspect fitting the description of a drug dealer. As they approached and identified themselves, the suspect fled, leading to a brief foot chase.
