On December 12, 1998, 26-year-old Ronnie Cantrell was attending a dance at the VFW Post located at 1318 S. 6th Street in Elkhart, Indiana. The event, which was supposed to be a night of celebration, turned tragic in the early hours of the morning. At approximately 2:30 a.m., as the party was winding down, multiple fights broke out at the venue. Amidst the chaos, several gunshots were fired, creating panic among the attendees.
