On November 15, 2014, authorities in Indianapolis, Indiana, were summoned to a residence where they discovered the body of Garry W. Borer, a 52-year-old White male, inside his garage. He was found seated in a wheelchair, having suffered a brutal and fatal assault. Beside the victim, investigators located a toolbox and several loose tools, including a screwdriver, as well as a bottle of bleach-based cleaner.
Both the tools and the cleaning supplies appeared to be stained with blood, serving as grim evidence of the violence that had transpired.
An autopsy conducted shortly after the discovery revealed the extent of the brutality, determining that the victim had sustained approximately 38 stab wounds. During the initial phase of the investigation, witnesses informed detectives that the victim had outstanding debts, suggesting a potential financial motive for the killing. Despite these leads and the physical evidence collected at the scene, the case remained open and unresolved for several years as police worked to identify the perpetrator.
Exactly three years later, on November 15, 2017, the investigation yielded a significant breakthrough with the arrest of 38-year-old Anthony King. Prosecutors filed a murder charge against King, alleging his responsibility for the 2014 slaying. Although King denied any involvement in the death when questioned by authorities, the accumulation of evidence over the three-year period led the Marion County Prosecutor's Office to move forward with the charges, marking a major turning point in the long-standing homicide case.
