On January 14, 2014, 34-year-old African American male Ray L. Ivory Jr. was fatally shot in Indianapolis, Indiana. The incident occurred in the evening around 6:30 p.m. on the 1500 block of Cumberland Road on the city's east side. Ivory was reportedly the target of a robbery attempt when he was struck by gunfire, suffering a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a local hospital where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries and passed away on January 15, 2014.
