On July 7, 2021, a 20-year-old Black male named Daniel 'Paxton' Shields was found critically injured in a vehicle on the northeast side of Indianapolis, Indiana. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a person shot just after 4:30 p.m. in the 8800 block of Bel Air Drive, near the intersection of 38th Street and Post Road.
