On the early morning of June 3, 2025, a violent incident unfolded at the historic Dorchester Apartments in Indianapolis, Indiana. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 3700 block of North Pennsylvania Street just after 4:00 a.m. following reports of gunfire within the residential complex. Upon entering the apartment, first responders discovered a chaotic scene where two individuals had sustained gunshot wounds.
Among the victims was 39-year-old female Kia Robinson, who had suffered fatal injuries. Despite the immediate presence of emergency personnel, she was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
A second victim, an adult male found inside the residence, had also been shot but survived the initial attack. He was transported to a local hospital in serious but stable condition. Detectives from the IMPD homicide unit, assisted by the Marion County Forensic Services Agency, quickly determined that the shooting was domestic-related. Investigators began processing the scene, collecting evidence that included fired cartridge casings and bullets, which would later prove critical in linking the crime to a specific weapon. The suspect had fled the apartment before police arrived, sparking a manhunt across the city’s north side.
Less than 24 hours after the deadly shooting, authorities located the alleged perpetrator. On the morning of June 4, detectives, supported by the Violent Crimes Unit and SWAT officers, tracked 35-year-old Clarence White to the 6500 block of East 82nd Street in the Castleton area. He was taken into custody without incident, and police reported that he was in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest. Subsequent forensic analysis matched the ammunition in the recovered gun to the evidence found at the crime scene.
Following the arrest, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office formally charged White with multiple felonies. He faces one count of murder for the death of Robinson, as well as three counts of attempted murder and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. As the legal proceedings commenced, White remained in custody while the surviving victim continued his recovery in the hospital. The swift apprehension provided a measure of resolution to a case that had briefly unsettled the near north side community.
