On a summer evening in Gary, Indiana, the life of 22-year-old J'amir Wiley was tragically cut short. Known affectionately as 'Jamie,' he was a young man with his future ahead of him, eagerly anticipating the birth of his second child. On July 10, 2014, Wiley was at an apartment complex near 21st Avenue and Carolina Street, engaged in a conversation with a woman outside. In a sudden act of violence, an unknown individual approached him from behind and fatally shot him.
