In the winter of 2019, a wave of violence descended upon a Gary, Indiana family, leaving a trail of death and a community in fear. Wayne Valentine, a 69-year-old Caucasian male, was found deceased on Sunday, February 24, 2019. His body was discovered near a vehicle in the 2400 block of Jennings Street, the victim of fatal gunshot wounds. The Lake County Coroner's Office officially ruled his death a homicide, marking another grim statistic in a series of interconnected tragedies.
