James Clark, a 19-year-old Black man, died on December 2, 2016, after violence found him on a Gary street in the middle of an ordinary afternoon. Police were sent to the 4200 block of Kentucky Street around 12:10 p.m. on a report of shots fired, and when officers arrived, they found him near the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and investigators ruled the death a homicide.
