On a spring evening in Indianapolis, just weeks before he was set to graduate high school, 18-year-old Darrius D. Taylor was shot and killed. The incident occurred on May 3, 2015, cutting short the life of the young African-American man and leaving a family and community to grapple with another senseless act of gun violence. Darrius was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting, his future extinguished in a moment of violence that has become all too common in the city.
