On a cold December evening in 2014, the life of 25-year-old Dominique Wright of Hammond, Indiana, was tragically cut short in a brazen act of violence on a busy expressway. The male victim was driving his black Oldsmobile westbound on the Borman Expressway, near Cline Avenue, when he was struck by multiple gunshots. The attack caused a chain reaction, as his vehicle continued moving, ultimately striking another car before coming to a final, grim halt on the inside of the interstate.
First responders were initially called to the scene for what was reported as a hit-and-run crash around 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2014. Upon their arrival near Kennedy Avenue, they discovered Wright inside his vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:40 p.m. The Lake County Coroner's office officially ruled his death a homicide.
