In the quiet town of Knightstown, Indiana, a devastating tragedy unfolded on August 27, 2015, forever altering the lives of a local family. On that late summer day, 5-year-old Thomas Cordell Horn, a White male, and his 11-year-old sister, Corinne Nicole Horn, were found deceased in their family home. The grim discovery was made by Henry County sheriff's deputies after the children failed to appear for school, prompting a welfare check.
Upon their arrival at the residence on West Old National Road, deputies peered through a window and saw young Thomas's body, which compelled them to force entry into the house.
Once inside, the full scope of the horror became apparent. In different rooms of the house, law enforcement found the bodies of both Thomas and Corinne. Their father, 48-year-old Joseph L. Horn, was also found deceased at the scene. Autopsies later confirmed that both Thomas and Corinne had died from gunshot wounds. The investigation into the heartbreaking event pointed towards a grim conclusion.
Authorities quickly determined that there was no evidence of any suspects at large, leading them to believe that the incident was a murder-suicide.
