In the late afternoon of a Saturday in November 2015, tragedy struck in East Chicago, Indiana, forever altering the lives of the family and friends of Ikeam Jamal Simmons. On November 21st, the 20-year-old man was gunned down in the vicinity of 150th Street and Alexander Avenue. The shooting occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m., and though he was quickly transported to St. Catherine Hospital, his life could not be saved. He was pronounced dead at 4:24 p.m. that same day.
