In the summer of 2016, the life of 42-year-old Charles D. Montgomery was cut short in Merrillville, Indiana. On the night of July 5th, multiple gunshots rang out in the 5400 block of Fillmore Street, the very block where Montgomery resided. When authorities arrived, they found him suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:15 a.m. on what had become the early morning of July 6th. The Lake County Coroner's Office officially ruled his death a homicide.
