In the early morning hours of January 15, 2020, the life of 18-year-old Jeremiah Simon, a male, was tragically cut short in Merrillville, Indiana. Simon was walking in the 500 block of East 54th Court when he was fatally shot. The incident that led to his untimely death remains shrouded in mystery, with many questions still unanswered. Known to some by the nickname 'Silky J,' he was a student at Merrillville High School.
The Merrillville Police Department, in conjunction with the Bureau
of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives launched a homicide investigation into Simon's death. In an effort to bring the person or persons responsible to justice, a significant reward was offered for any information that would lead to an arrest and conviction. The Merrillville Police Department initially offered $5,000, which was subsequently matched by the ATF, bringing the total reward to $10,000.
