In the early hours of a Wednesday morning in Evansville, Indiana, the life of Michael H. Farmer Jr., a 20-year-old Black male affectionately known as 'Newk,' was tragically cut short. On July 27, 2016, just three days after his birthday, gunshots rang out in the area of Linwood and Sweetser Avenues. When police responded to the 911 calls at approximately 1:42 AM, they discovered Farmer, who had sustained a gunshot wound.
