On a Monday morning in Indianapolis, the 14th of March, 2016, a car crash on the west side of the city initially appeared to be a tragic but routine accident. Inside the vehicle was 59-year-old Eddie L. Stringer, a male resident of the city. First responders at the scene in the 3600 block of West Cossell Road were working under the assumption that the collision had claimed his life.
However, the subsequent investigation would reveal a more sinister chain of events that led to the untimely death of Mr. Stringer.
As the inquiry into the circumstances of the crash deepened, the Marion County Coroner's Office performed an autopsy. The results of this examination shifted the entire focus of the investigation. It was determined that the physical trauma sustained from the car crash was not the cause of Eddie L. Stringer's death. Instead, the coroner ruled his death a homicide, indicating that he had been killed by other means before the crash occurred. As of now, there have been no publicly announced arrests, and the case remains an open and unresolved homicide investigation.
