A late-night discovery in an industrial area of Gary, Indiana, revealed a grim scene that left a community searching for answers. On Friday, October 21, 2016, the bodies of 26-year-old Christopher Clark Jr. and 25-year-old Devita Scott were found inside a vehicle. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 2000 block of Industrial Boulevard at approximately 11:50 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Clark and Scott slumped over in the vehicle.
The Lake County Coroner's Office later identified the victims, confirming their identities and the cause of their deaths. Clark was a resident of the 2400 block of Delaware Street in Gary, while Scott resided in the 3500 block of Lincoln Street, also in Gary.
The Lake County/Gary Metro Homicide Unit immediately launched an investigation into the double homicide. Law enforcement officials urged the public to come forward with any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for the deaths of the young man and woman. A detective was assigned to the case, and a crime tip line was made available for anonymous information.
Despite the initial investigation and public appeals for assistance, there have been no subsequent announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the murders of Christopher Clark Jr. and Devita Scott. The case remains an open and unresolved homicide, leaving their families and the community without closure.
