In the early morning hours of August 11, 2017, in Gary, Indiana, the life of 25-year-old Nathaniel Bobo, a Black male, was tragically cut short. Residing on the 1100 block of Delaware Street, it was in this very area that the events leading to his death unfolded. Police were dispatched to the scene following reports of multiple individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered a grim scene with three victims.
Nathaniel Bobo was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to Methodist Northlake Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:49 a.m. Alongside him, 16-year-old Jamaris Frierson was found and pronounced dead at the scene. A third female victim was also discovered with gunshot wounds and was transported for medical treatment.
In the wake of the double homicide, the Gary Police Department and the Lake County/Gary Metro Homicide Unit launched a joint investigation into the shooting.
