In the early hours of a Monday morning, the life of 21-year-old Christian Farmer of Merrillville, Indiana, was tragically cut short. On June 10, 2024, at a Citgo gas station located at 4700 Broadway in Gary, Farmer was fatally shot. The Lake County Coroner's Office pronounced him dead at the scene at 1:58 a.m. from multiple gunshot wounds. His family was present to identify him.
An autopsy later confirmed that the cause of death was a homicide.
Christian Alexander Farmer, a Black male born in Gary on June 22, 2002, was known to his loved ones as a charismatic and thoughtful individual with a happy-go-lucky spirit. He had attended Merrillville High School and later earned his GED. His family remembered his infectious humor and his ability to make ordinary moments memorable. He was an avid chess player, appreciated for his strategic thinking.
The investigation into Christian Farmer's murder was launched by the Gary Police Department, with assistance from the Lake County Sheriff's Department CSI and the Lake County Prosecutor's Homicide Task Force. Despite their efforts, as of late 2025, there has been no public information released regarding any suspects or arrests in connection with the shooting.
